Diabetic, Chronic Disease & Cancer Rehab

The Diabetic and Cancer Restoration Program brings together a multitude of services and education to a patient that has been diagnosed with Diabetes, Cancer or other various forms of Chronic Illness and disease. Our program here at The Carroll Wellness Center assists patients in managing their illness through educational tools and rehabilitative exercise.

The overarching goal of both programs is to simply improve the well being and overall quality of life of our patients by empowering them with the knowledge and physical capabilities to combat their illness with confidence.

Choose Your Option:

HOW IT WORKS

  • Obtain a completed prescription form from your doctor.
  • Deliver it to The Carroll Wellness Center (in person, faxed or by email to carrie@carrollwc.com)
  • Work with a Certified Personal Trainer for the next eight weeks two to three times weekly.
  • Obtain weekly blood glucose readings to ensure that you’re staying on track.
  • Continue your exercise regimen for an entire year at no cost!

WHAT QUALIFIES?

  • Any form of auto immune disease

HOW IT HELPS

  • Lower A1C Levels 
  • Maintain and stabilize blood glucose levels 
  • Improve endurance and strength 
  • Positively increase overall quality of life 
  • Reduction in overall pain and disease related complications
  • Obtain knowledge of strength and cardiovascular training programs for long term success in disease management.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AND WHAT’S INCLUDED?

  • Eight weeks of working with a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) with extensive background in Chronic Disease management 
  • Nutritional Guidance Counseling
  • Guided workouts aimed at reducing A1C and blood glucose levels

STATISTICS 

  • Studies found in the World Journal of Diabetes showed that 150 minutes of physical activity resulted in a 58% reduction in Type II Diabetes. Walking 2 hours a week showed a 39% lower all cause mortality rate and 34% cardiovascular disease mortality rate compared to those who are sedentary.
  • The Diabetes Prevention Program found that physical activity combined with diet therapy reduced the risk of diabetes by 67.4%. Additionally, interval walking decreased visceral fat by 10.6-10.8%, fasting insulin significantly decreased by 19.5% and mean glucose concentration decreased by 8.5%.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Obtain a completed prescription form from your doctor by any of the following methods (downloadable file from our website, or in person at The Carroll Wellness Center)
  • Deliver it to The Carroll Wellness Center (In person, faxed or email to carrie@carrollwc.com)
  • Work with a Certified Personal Trainer for the next eight weeks, two to three times weekly increasing strength, restoring Range of motion by use of percussion massage, stretch and topical heat application and interventions.
  • Continue your exercise regimen for an entire year at no cost!

WHAT TYPES OF CANCER QUALIFY?

  • Any varying form of diagnosed Cancer qualifies for our program here at The Carroll Wellness Center.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AND WHAT’S INCLUDED?

  • Eight weeks, working side by side with a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) with an extensive background in Cancer Rehabilitative and Restorative therapy interventions and techniques.
  • Group Therapy Sessions 
  • Nutritional Guidance Counseling  
  • Percussion Massage Therapy  
  • Guided workouts aimed at increasing strength, and restoring normal everyday activity.

STATISTICS 

  • In a recent study by the National Cancer Institute found that women with breast cancer who met the minimum physical activity guidelines both before diagnosis and at the two-year follow-up, had a 55 percent reduced chance of their cancer returning and a 68 percent reduced chance of death from any cause (not just breast cancer) compared to those who did meet the guidelines at both times.
  • In a study of 573 women with stage I-III colorectal cancer, physical activity reduced cancer-specific mortality by almost 50%
